Top 7 Gyms In Valencia, Spain - Best Gyms & Fitness Club To Train At

Once we started getting more settled, the next thing on our “to do” list was to look for the top gyms in Valencia, Spain. Health and fitness is something that is very important to our family so we wanted to make sure we found the right one!

We started on looking for the ones with kids activities and childcare, but they all seemed to be a little further than we wanted to go. Since we do not have a car, we rely heavily on public transit or walking.

This eliminated a lot of possibilities during our search! Ultimately we chose that convenience is more important to us and signed up for Basic-Fit just a few blocks away from our home.

Best Gyms In Valencia - Central Gym / Fitness Class Options Inside The Turia 2023

When we were back in the United States the main thing we would look for in a gym was CHILDCARE

If my husband could lift some weights and I could go to CrossFit or cycling classes; all while my children were being watched I was in heaven!

I would recommend that gym to anyone and everyone so they could experience the same peace I had for a couple of hours on my workout days while my kids were running around with others at the gym childcare.

Now that we are in Valencia and my kids are a bit older (all school age) I mainly look for somewhere affordable and in my general area that I can walk too. I do not mind a 10 minute walk to the gym.

With that being said if my gym is a 15 minute bus ride; I do not care how nice it is I will not make it that far on a regular basis.

Below are some best Valencia gyms has to offer based on location, price, equipment and fitness class availability.

Are Gyms Popular In Spain??

Yes. Very popular! When we were looking up gyms and wellness centers, SO MANY pop up on Google.

Even when I asked for recommendations in Facebook groups, I felt like I never got the same answer twice. I couldn’t believe how many centers there actually are here!

Basic-Fit Valencia - We Decided On A Membership Due To How Close It Is

We choose to sign up at Basic-Fit because it is convenient, nearby, and has the free weights we were looking for. Basic-Fit Valencia has everything you need to do your standard workout.

This gym is on the smaller side (compared to the ones in the USA), but you cannot beat the overall price for what you are getting.

There are a few options when signing up for Basic-Fit. You can do the basic or premium. Signing up as an individual, the fee is €19.99 monthly.

My husband and I are premium members and we pay €29.99 for the both of us. This allows us to have the benefit to enter to over 1200+ clubs as well as bring a friend.

A lot of the clubs offer a day pass but I thought this one in particular was high at €9.99 for the day. To me this seems silly, but others may find it reasonable.

Another thing I would like to add is a lot of gyms are closed on Sunday or have very minimal hours! Basic-Fit is open on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am-4:00pm.

**Disclaimer: Just something I thought I should add that really bothers me at this club. There is only 2 squat racks in the gym and if you don’t go during a slower time, good luck getting one! For some reason when people are taking their breaks in-between sets, they wait for AT LEAST 10 minutes for the next set.

Now this goes for a lot of the popular “weight” equipment. To me, this seems incredibly rude as people are pacing back and forth waiting for their turn.

I have also seen people ask if they could slide in to get a rep and majority of them say “no.” I am not sure if it happens at other clubs so this is just based on my own personal experience!

Atalanta Sport Club - Sports Club And Spa

Atalanta Sport Club is a very nice gym that has a multiple locations. Some provide more classes and equipment than others.

It would be your job to go and visit the gyms to see which one you like best! Ones that are outside of the city center seem to be quite a bit larger.

The one close to us, has an indoor heated pool. I really love how they have TONS of fitness classes as well.

Something I thought was neat is they have extracurricular activities for children (which I just found out doing research this blog!)

We for sure would’ve tried a class or two out here since it is so close to our home! In the future we will be signing up here to check out the quality of the children’s activities.

**(I will update my post with an honest comment and review after we try them out.)**

IMPORTANT TIP: A lot of companies do not advertise the children activities they have for some reason. I either hear about them through word of mouth, or I accidentally stumble upon their websites or see a flyer inside their facility.

I usually have to ask a worker, “What it is?” and “How do I get more information?” This is something I have started noticing the more and more research I do to inform people of events and other activities in Valencia.

VivaGym Valencia - Impressive Indoor Training Zon

VivaGym is an incredible fitness gym that has multiple locations. This was a big contender for us because of location and quality. We felt it was one of the best one in our area.

VivaGym provides online and in-person fitness classes and strength training. They have AMAZING equipment and over 70 cardio machines which is very useful when getting in that “cardio day.”

When researching gyms, about half of them barely had enough cardio equipment in my opinion.

I personally LOVE the functional training zone. They have artificial grass to train on which is something I have not seen very much here and it’s surprisingly spacious.

The membership here is monthly as well (found few with annual options). The rates are from €29.90-€34.90.

That all depends on which plan you choose and what amenities you want included.

Enjoy! - A Gym That Reminds Me Of What We Have Back In The USA

Our friends go to Enjoy! and they LOVE this gym! For them it’s a quick 15 minute bus ride and they have nothing but positive things to say about it. From the weight lifting area, to childcare, to fitness classes, they have been more than impressed.

The childcare they provide is 2 hours per day and they have 2 full monitors on staff watching and playing with the children. You do have to go in THEIR SCHEDULED hours to use this service. They have a game room where the kids can play with adult supervision as well as organized drop off care.

Plenty of activities for both parents and children. Adult classes are excellent and include, body combat, body pump, cycle, core, etc. More is available on their website along with the class schedules.

The family pass (2 adults and 2 kids) is €53.20 and you add €5.50 extra per kid. Included is use of all the facilities and children’s programs, childcare, and 2 hour parking daily parking. The individual pass is €42.15 monthly.

Enjoy! is very close to the beach in comparison to the others I have listed in this blog!

SUMA Fitness Club - The All-In-One Club With Multiple Pools

We really debated on joining SUMA because it is very close to our home. Our kids have done activities here including gymnastics and swimming.

They have enjoyed the programs so far and we continue to take them there weekly. I also like that you can join the club with a membership, or you can just attend the extracurricular classes.

At SUMA Fitness Club here near city center, they have multiple swimming pools which is amazing for year-round swimming. They have both indoor and outdoor pools! They really provide something for everyone with only a short-term commitment.

To get a membership at SUMA, we were going to pay €54.20 for a family (which is 2 adults and 2 children). If you have 3 or more kids you just add on €5.50 for each one monthly.

With that, you get unlimited use to all activities and facilities. That’s a pretty good deal especially if you are interested in the activities they offer!

So as you can see, the price to join is not too expensive, but for us it was more than some of the other gyms nearby.

Local Sports Complex - Good Way To Get To Know Your Neighbors!

These local sports complexes are in your neighborhood, or in a neighboring area. When I was asking for gym recommendations people told me “go to your local gym.”

I had NO IDEA what that meant! After asking around to locals, I found out you have to type in:  “Polideportivo”  gym near me.

I wish I knew to type this exact word into Google to help me in the beginning. These are basically like your YMCA or your local Rec-Center.

They are extremely affordable and each complex has its own design, class schedules, sports offered, etc.

My kids play sports at one of the local complexes, and I will have to say it is a nice facility! A lot of them have indoor and outdoor aqua centers which is nice to escape the heat in the summer months.

With this in mind, majority of the local facilities also offers different camps throughout the summer.

Do People In Spain Go To The Gym??

Yes definitely! Many people care about their health and fitness here is Valencia. I would have to say about half of the people do their fitness training in the Turia Gardens.

I see a lot of people working out with their friends, alone, or in group classes EVERY DAY!!! In the summer months, I cannot express how many people are outside working out. It is refreshing to see everyone outside and really caring about staying healthy!

When we first visited Valencia we stayed in Airbnb’s for most nights (in certain neighborhoods we were considering living in).

With that being said we did spend a single night in a hotel. While the hotel was beautiful, had free Wi-Fi, etc. due to it being in the city or being such a narrow building; it did not have any weights.

Just a single tiny room with a treadmill and a bike for aerobic exercise or light stretching. Luckily it was easy to find a gym in your area; which I found a spin class about 5 minutes away from Gran Via.

Just something to keep in mind if you stay in the City Centre that even the best hotels here usually lack the space like American hotels have laid out for their fitness centers.

Turia Park - There Are So Many People Training Anything You Can Imagine In The Turia!

The Turia Park is simply amazing. It might be my favorite thing about Valencia. While you are walking or riding your bike in the park, you will see countless groups working out.

Some do basic body weight style workouts, cardio, aerobics, Zumba, yoga and Pilates, you name it!

A lot of trainers do their workout (and bring some exercise equipment) in the Turia because they do not have to pay for a gym space.

And lets be honest, the weather is so beautiful here, you just want to be outside and enjoy the sunshine.

If you find something you like, you just approach the group and ask if you can join this or next time. A lot of the trainers have their own Facebook pages and get their clients based off of referrals.

Every trainer has their own price which are generally charged per session. Just reach out to one of them to get more information!
