My Top Markets In Valencia = (Central Market or "Mercado Central" / Ruzafa Market / Colón Market / Cabanyal Market)
Since moving to Valencia, we have visited plenty of markets around the area. Coming from the United States, we had very tiny but plentiful indoor/outdoor markets.
One of my favorite things to do here is go to the markets around the city to get my produce for the week.
**TIP**You really have to do your due diligence when going to the markets because some stall holders are more expensive than the neighboring ones! I like to walk around first to look at the prices, then make my selection!
Listed below are not only markets I enjoy, but popular ones here in the city of Valencia.

Rojas Clemente Market - Smaller Market Building

This market is a smaller neighborhood market and not as popular as others. With that being said, they have a nice bar restaurant with a very popular outdoor terrace.
With having over 300 days of sunshine each year, you can enjoy sitting outside year-round. If you want to see a more detailed breakdown of the weather here in Valencia, check out this monthly breakdown.
The prices in the market as well as the restaurant are very reasonably priced. If you are in the area, you should pop in to grab a few things and to enjoy the local atmosphere!
Mercado Municipal Plaza Redonda - Not Your Typical Market!
We have walked through this “market” a lot when we are wandering in the heart of Valencia’s old town.
I use “market” because this is not your typical market like others listed in this blog.
It does have fixed stalls offering things from Valencia, handmade goods, ceramics, and household items.
This market is on the smaller side but it is nice to grab some souvenirs.
This Mercado is picture worthy as it has a cute little fountain in the middle with stalls surrounding it (in a circular fashion).

Mercat de Russafa - Cool Local And Vibrant Spot

Mercat de Russafa (Russafa Market) is a lively market located in one of the most “hipster” area’s in the city. It is a vibrant and bustling market that sells a wide range of fresh products, from fruits and vegetables to fish and meat.
The market is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, as it offers a unique shopping experience that is both authentic and exciting.
Visitors can browse through the colorful stalls, taste the fresh produce, and interact with the friendly vendors to get a real taste of Valencian culture.
Mercat de Russafa is not only a place to buy food but also a social hub where people come together to share experiences and build community. It is one of the must-see tourist attractions in Valencia, as it is a true reflection of the city’s vibrant spirit and rich heritage.
After you are done exploring the Mercado, step outside to one of the surrounding restaurants to try an assortment of tapas and Spanish cooking! The atmosphere here in Russafa is one of our favorites!!

Central Market of Valencia is one of the most famous markets in Spain. The Central Market is one of Valencia’s top things to do when visiting! Here you will find the best produce, fresh fish and meats, souvenirs, etc. I go into more detail below.
Central Market Of Valencia - Made By Valencian Architect Alexandre Soler (One Of Europe's Best Food Markets)
The Central Market of Valencia, Spain is a bustling hub of activity for tourists and locals alike. It is one of the oldest markets still in use in Europe, dating back to the 19th century.
Here, at this indoor market, visitors can find a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and cheese, fish and seafood, as well as spices, dried fruits, and gourmet products.
The market is famous for its beautiful modernist building, designed by architect Francisco Guardia Vidal, and its colorful stained-glass dome, which adds to the market’s already lively atmosphere.
This largest fresh produce market is a beloved institution in Valencia and a must-see stop(located in the heart of the city) for any foodie visiting the city.
Being the largest market in Europe, this is easily one of the best places to visit when you are in Valencia!

**NEW**Mercado De La Imprenta - Completed Construction Of A New Roofed Market

The Mercado de la Imprenta is one of the city’s NEWEST and LARGEST Gastronomic market in the city of Valencia. They opened March 2023 and is located near the train station and about 5 minutes from the city center.
This Valencia market is one of the most beautiful and impressive buildings in Valencia. Inside consists of 21 stalls which include food stalls, shops, cafés, and so much more!
We did a walking tour of this market so everyone is able to see first hand on how majestic this building is.
Rastro de València - Street Market With Many Items For Sale
We have never been here before, but whenever we are riding the tram to the beach on Sundays, it is packed! This outdoor flea market is located VERY close to Malva Rosa beach.
They are open ONLY on Sunday mornings and begins at 7am. Now being from Ohio, I was raised on MASSIVE flea markets. To me this seems very small and not worth it, but to others I can understand why they love it!
They offer lots of antiques and “Spanish” treasures. It is truly a unique place where you can pick up some souvenirs during your trip to Valencia.

Mercat Municipal del Cabanyal - Market Near The Beach

This food market located near the beach is a must see especially if you are staying in that area! You’ll find that this fresh food market has some of the best fruits and vegetables.
We stop here at times before we head to the beach to grab some of the freshest and best food!
I personally wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this market (if I wasn’t near the beach) because there are so many other ones near Valencia city center. But if you are roaming the streets of the Cabanyal district and the market is open, I would recommend making a pitstop!
It is a great option to have in mind if you want to visit a nice local market where you’ll find everything you need during your stay!
Colon Market - A.K.A "Mercado De Colón" And MY PERSONAL FAVORITE!!! **OPEN UNTIL LATE
The Colón Market in the city of Valencia, Spain, also known as Mercado de Colón, is a popular destination for both locals and visitors.
Built in 1914, the market was originally an open space for traders to sell their goods, but has since been renovated and now houses a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants.
The building’s architecture is a mixture of medieval and modern styles, with a soaring central dome and intricate mosaics. It is one of largest works of the Valencian Art Nouveau.
Visitors can find fresh produce, seafood, and meat as well as a wide variety of local specialties, souvenirs, and crafts. The market hosts cultural events throughout the year, including concerts and exhibitions.
Located in the el Mercat (on the bottom floor), are delicious restaurants using fresh ingredients from the Valencia Comunidad.
The Colon Market is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the vibrant culture of Valencia
